Lets talk about LIPS!

September 19, 2017

As usual it's highly important for me to be perfectly honest about the procedures I'm having done. My beauty is not all natural and that's okay. I just don't want anyone, especially young girls, to mirror themselves in something they believe to be natural. The picture above is the natural me, apart from my breasts. As you can see, my lips are slimmer than they are now.

In early 2016 I decided to get my lips done, I wanted them to be a bit fuller. I did my research and found Cosmecare, a clinic in Copenhagen owned by nurse Shide Maryam Nezam. I booked my procedure and was told that I had to have a consultation with a doctor 48 hours before. The doctor told me about the biology behind the procedure and the risks involved of having it done. I chose to proceed and I brought my best friend Lee-Ann Zambrano and my dog Bella.

In the dias show you can see me right before the procedure and a week after.

At first she put on some numbing creme on my lips for about 10 minutes. I looked really silly and honestly I don't like needles so I was a bit nervous as well. But it helped that my friend and Bella were there. The nurse was kind, professional and made me feel safe throughout.

We had decided to start with 1 ml of Juvaderm Volbella. I did not want my lips to look overdone, at the time I was unaware this would take multiple injections for a true 'trout pout'. Those Hollywood people with huge lips have done it many many times to look like that.

When the nurse started with the needle, the pain was intense and surprising. It hurt like hell. How much it hurts is individual but my lips are sensitive. I still had not expected a piercing pain like that. Luckily there is a type of anaesthetics in the filler, so it will work after some time.

As you can probably guess, it's not enough with just one sting. You have to stick the needle in 5-10 times on both sides of border of the the upper lip plus 4-6 times on the lips themselves. So the procedure takes from 5-15 minutes depending on how many breaks you need. For me, I need a few breaks just to resist the urge to start crying.

I really liked the result but in the first few weeks my lips felt hard and sore so maybe don't get it done right before a romantic holiday. To keep the results you might need to get it done every 3-6 months, at least in the beginning as the filler will slowly disappear. Especially if you do a lot of exercise and go to the sauna, steam etc. Which I like to do.

By the time of my return visit arrived I had moved to London so I had to find a new clinic to do my lips. I found Dr. Giorgia Ratta on Harley Street. The sweetest doctor who really understand what look I like. After four procedures with 1 ml every time, I'm very pleased with my results and I want to keep my lips like this. Now it's been 8 months since the last time I had them done and they are still beautiful. You can check Dr. Giorgia Ratta on her instagram page here: https://www.instagram.com/dr_giorgia_ratta/
